Environmental Hazards in Clear Creek

Based largely on residual 1970s hysteria, there is a tendency among many people to exaggerate the hazard associated with naturally occurring asbestos and mercury found in the Clear Creek Management Area. This paranoia is based solely in misinformation and pseudoscience, driven by government sanctioned and media driven propaganda.

However, the simple fact is that all available scientific data suggests that neither chrysotile asbestos nor mercury, both, naturally occurring in the Clear Creek Management Area, pose a threat or harm to humans or wildlife in the area.
