Goat MountainShown as the Great Mammoth Peak on a 1914 map of San Benito County. Named on San Benito Mountain 7.5' quadrangle at N36° 21.145; W120° 44.076 at 4060 feet. This peak become known as Goat Mountain sometime in the 1920s because a local rancher and miner, Joe Tirado ran his goats on the mountain. It was originally called the Great Mammoth Peak because it somewhat resembles the head of Great Mammoth Elephant when viewed from the Clear Creek entrance road.
