What's Behind that Name ...

Perovskite Peak

Also known as Perovskite Hill. Located at N36° 19.585; W120° 36.622 at 4657 feet, about 1.5 miles south of Santa Rita Peak but not named on the Santa Rita Peak 7.5' quadrangle.

It is named because of the perovskite-bearing rock, which has now been bulldozed away, but loose pieces can be found in downslope scree among the bushes.

Perovskite Peak is the knoll in the center of this photograph, below Condon Peak.
