San Carlos Mine

Named on Idria 7.5' quadrangle N36° 23.568; W120° 39.478 at 4652 feet. This mine was part of the New Idria Mine. An 1891 map of San Benito County shows a "Wagon Trail to Cantua" going from near the north side of San Carlos Peak down to San Carlos Bolsa (not named on 1891 map) to Cantua Creek. This trail is shown, but not labeled on the 1943 Idria 15' quadrangle.

Work began on the San Carlos Mine in 1858 soon after operation commenced at the New Idria Mine
