Twentyfive SpringNamed on Joaquin Rocks 7.5' quadrangle at N36° 19.625; W120° 29.621 at 3464 feet. However, this is incorrect. Twentyfive Spring is named such because it is in section 25. The actual location is on Santa Rita Peak 7.5' quadrangle at N36° 19.704; W120° 30.387 at 3356 feet. This area was used by many sheepherders in the late 1800s because of its plentiful pasture and water. Francisco Zalba, a Basque sheepherder, homesteaded here in 1897. Antonio Urruttia and Dave Larious also had cabins in the area. |
